Jabari Parker Slam Dunk: Facts On Player Who Headbutts Rim For A Dunk

The social media stirred this Saturday after Jabari Parker hit the metal rim with his head while dunking after a high jump.

“I thought somebody hit me,” said Jabari Parker, The Milwaukee Bucks forward, after their 88-74 victory over Dallas in the preseason at Madrid. The forward then says, “But then, come to think of it, ‘Nobody went up, so it might have been me.”

In reply to a tweet which suggested that a helmet should have been worn by Jabari Parker, he said, “I need one” and then sarcastically says, “At least a mask”.

Parker pulled off a splendid performance which included 6 re bounds, game-high 21 pt and 1 block in 24 minutes.

The 6’8’’ native of Chicago is off to an impressive and strong start, who believes that he can carry this form from the start of the preseason to the games scheduled later this month that will count. The 21 year old, who was coming off a knee injury last fall which he had suffered in the rookie season, couldn’t be a part of the training camp.

He couldn’t find his form till last season at the all-star break, where he came back with aggression and bounce, which made him Number 2 in the overall pick of the 2014 draft.  His average after the break was close to 20 points per game, and ended in 76 games with an average of 14.1 pt and 5.2 re bounds.

According to Journal Sentinel, Parker said, “The medical staff has gotten me to where I want to be, talking just as an athlete. I think I’m in good shape”

Parker now wishes to be at another level and wishes to be not just a threat but an all-round player. “That’s one of my biggest goals, is to be a really big force for us on defense,” says Parker, and adds, “I want to be the anchor. It starts with me and if I take that responsibility, things might go the right way.

When the regular season starts, Parker is expected to play more minutes. But the Bucks forward in the preseason is comfortable with his 20-25 minutes of play.

While Steve Novak, Parker’s teammate, believes that Parker is jumping even higher when he says, “No, I think he was up higher than he expected to be. He’s jumping higher than he was last year even”
