American reality TV show “Married at First Sight” has no doubt taken the concept of “Dating in the Dark” and “The Bachelor” to the next level and it has got support from the participants, too. However, things seem to have gone unlike a fairytale for couples who got married through the show, which is indicating a halt to the 3rd season of the series.
“Married at First Sight” facilitates the concept of matching strangers via four matchmaking experts who themselves got married at first sight. The couple who get married meet each other only on the day of wedding.
Rumors were already flooding around the Internet saying that the series might not get a renewal for 3rd, due to the divorces that followed in the next 6 months.
From the three pairs matched in the 1st season, only one did not make it together after a while but the majority, as far as shown by the media, is still keeping it together, which propelled season 2. However, the turnaround rate of season 2, where all 3 matched pairs got divorced within 6 months after going through nasty allegations against each other, is certainly making it difficult for the show to come back.
The UK counterpart of the show also seems to be under trouble with matched pair Kate Stewart and Jason Knowles splitting after just two weeks. However, the Australian version is doing quite well and it has been renewed for a second season.
Another thing to note is that the casting call for the 3rd Season has been withdrawn from the official website of the show. However, there is always a chance that FYI has already picked its casting for the season, hence they have taken it down.
