iPhones And Other iDevices Get The Revamped Microsoft Office Apps For iOS

iPhones And Other iDevices Get The Revamped Microsoft Office Apps For iOSEarlier this year, Microsoft released their prime app trio – Word, Excel and PowerPoint – exclusively for the iPad but now, the Redmond Company has expanded its reach to other iOS devices as it launched the mentioned apps with versions compatible with the iPhone.

Having the same great features of the iPad version, Microsoft has optimized its Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) to fit the iPhone’s smaller screen size and made them independent downloads which users can get from the App Store in lieu of Office Mobile which is already obsolete.

The best thing about this new unified version of the apps is that users can now open and edit existing documents or create new ones even without an Office 365 account/subscription. Before, users without an Office 365 account can only open and view existing documents but now Microsoft has allowed complete control of documents without this prerequisite.

Although this is already great for users, there are still lots advantages of having an Office 365 account. With the subscription, users have access to more advanced features like change tracking, unlimited OneDrive storage, a bevy of paragraph styles, better chart, table and image layout and formatting tools, and more. The Office 365 subscription also allow users of the updated Office for iOS Suite to open, edit and save documents from their Dropbox cloud storage service.  The service cost $9.99 a month for the basic Office 365 Home subscription.

Microsoft has allowed these changes in line with their “Office For Everyone” thrust, which has the goal of giving users a unified Office experience across all devices and all platforms, including Android, iOS and Windows, of course.

Microsoft also recently released a new version of Outlook for the Mac and the company also said that an Office Suite update for the Mac is on track for release next year.  The beta testing period will be done during the first semester of next year while actual unleashing will be done in the second semester of 2015.

The Microsoft Office Suite for the iPhone is compatible with the iPhone 5, iPhone 5C, iPhone 5S, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus running iOS 7 or later.
