Apple is expected to end the year with the refreshed MacBook Pro 2016 line which, will likely mean that 2017 will kick off with the iPad Pro. The question though, is how many tablets the Cupertino company will be releasing.
Recent reports suggest that there will be three iPad Pro variants coming.
This will include the reported 7.9-inch iPad Pro Mini, a 10.1-inch variant and the largest of the crop, the 12.9-inch version, according to a report from Mac Otakara.
Three’s company for iPad Pro?
That said, it may be safe to assume that the 10.1-inch iPad Pro is the default device that Apple customers will be treated to. The iPad Pro Mini version will likely succeed the iPad Mini 5, something hat critics believed would be written off.
The iPad Mini Pro or iPad Mini 5 will likely come with the minimum specs. This includes an A9X chip supported by 3 GB of RAM and 32 to 256 GB of internals storage. It will also have an 8 MP main camera, and a front-facing 1.2 MP camera.
As far as the battery is concerned, various reports claim that its power may depend on the overall design. If it does come out thinner, the battery may turn out to be lower than the previous 5,140 mAh battery used on the iPad 4, Mac World UK claims.
From there, the next in line (10.1-inch iPad Pro) will have a notch up like a potential A10x chip and some minor (to none) iteration/s in RAM and cameras. The largest of the batch is expected to be aimed at commercial and educational use.
Will the headphone jack be removed?
Considering the trend tied up to the removal of the 3.5 mm (headphone) jack, Slash Gear reported that it will still be around for the iPad Pro variants in 2017. This is despite expectations that Apple will be pushing its new AirPods which can be used wirelessly (Bluetooth).
Either way, 2017 should be a big year for Apple as they kick the year off with their new line of tablets. There is no word yet on pricing though the line is expected to be out by the Spring.
