On December 8, Apple released the second major iOS 9 update, “iOS 9.2.” This new update has made over 30 improvements to Safari, Apple Music, News, Mail and more. iOS 9.2 has brought along new features as well.

iOS 9.2 has come after the last iOS 9 update. Why should you install it?

iBooks gets 3D Touch support

Good news for readers. iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus users can now use 3D Touch for iBooks. Long press on the app icon and see:

i. Recently opened iBooks
ii. Reading completion percentage

To “peek and pop” the content, long press on notes, table of contents or notes. With iOS 9.2, you will also be able to listen to an audiobook while reading an actual book, exploring the iBooks Store or browsing your library.

News App will now show top stories

iOS 9.2 brings top stories to Apple’s News App. This feature lets you “stay up to date with the most important news of the day (available in the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia).”As reported by MacRumors, these stories will get published a few times a day. As stated by Apple, this update will also let you browse that based on your interests. On this app, you will now be able to save articles so that you can read them even when offline. You can also share your favorite stories with your friends.

Improved Apple Music

Apple says, “You can now create a new playlist when adding a song to a playlist,” and “Your most recently changed playlist is now listed at the top when adding songs to playlists.” By tapping on the iCloud download button, you can download playlists or albums from iCloud Music Library. iOS 9.2 has also brought download indicator to your iPhone. With this indicator, you can see your download history.

AT&T NumberSync support

iOS 9.2 now supports AT&T NumberSync. This feature will let you make calls from El Capitan-based Macs, iPad, and Apple Watch. But you will need to keep your iPhone handy for this.
