Two Brazilian synchronized divers have parted ways after one kicked the other out of their room at the 2016 Rio Olympics for what is described as a “marathon of sex.”
Giovanna Pedroso was banished from the Olympic Village room she shared with her partner, Ingrid Oliveira, because the latter was having a late night sex session. Oliveira was alleged to have had sex with Pedro Goncalves the night before she and Pedroso were scheduled to compete.
Being banished from the room left Pedroso infuriated, so she decided to part ways with her partner.
Oliveira and Pedroso came last in their 10-meter platform event. Speaking with O Globo, Pedroso said she wants to “focus on my individual” after the Games.
“It’s good because I will not need to depend on anyone. Then I will be able to improve and evolve more,” Pedroso said.
It was reported that Oliveira posted what has been referred to as a “provocative” picture, showing herself in a swimsuit a day prior to her participation in last year’s Pan American Games in Toronto. Following the incident with the picture, the diver was accused of “being more interested in posting photos of her behind than winning medals.”

As reported by Daily Mail, trainer Andreia da Silva also criticized Oliveira for not showing enough focus before the event.
“I’ve already told her to stop with this internet thing. No one is banning anything, she can have fun, she can play, but she has to pay more attention because we have an Olympic objective,” da Silva said.
But the trainer also came to the diver’s defense, saying, “[Oliveira] always takes photos. There’s nothing too bad on her Instagram. And the material of her work is her body, it’s her swimsuit.”
Oliveira and Pedroso had an argument over training in the weeks leading up to the 2016 Rio Olympics. They resumed speaking a week before the games were to begin, but only “what was necessary” for their contests.
