The first “Inferno” trailer is finally dropped by Sony. The teaser showedlead star Tom Hanks on fire as he prevents a worldwide plague, racing against time before “hell is unleashed.”
Tom Hanks, who played as Robert Langdon in the mystery-filled movie adaptations of author Dan Brown “Angels and Demons” and “The Da Vince Code,” is returning as the protagonist Harvard professor.
In the “Inferno” trailer, Robert Langdon woke in a hospital in Italy, not knowing what happened to him for the past few days. He realized thereafter that he is being targeted in a manhunt operation, Movie Pilot said in a report.
“There’s a switch, if you throw it half the people on earth will die,” a chilling voice can be heard saying in the beginning of the “Inferno” trailer. “But if you don’t, in 100 years the human race will be extinct.”
The voice then directed his message to the symbologist saying, “You are humanity’s final hope.”
Robert Langdon then partnered with Florence doctor Sienna Brooks (Felicity Jones) to stop the villain’s plans of destroying humankind, leading them to analyzing great poet Dante’s “Inferno.”
“Inferno” will be directed by Ron Howard, also the man behind “Angels & Demons” and “The Da Vince Code,” The Daily Mail said in a report.
Tom Hanks will star alongside Felicity Jones of “The Theory of Everything,” Omar Sy of “Jurassic World,” and Ben Foster of the “X-Men: The last Stand.”
The movie is set to hit the big screens in October.
“Inferno” is based on the best-selling Robert Langdon series of Dan Brown. The book was tagged as No. 1 by the New York Times Best Seller list in 2013. It has also sold over six million copies worldwide.
