It might seem ruthless to some but D’Angelo Russell has now come quite close to Australian rapper Iggy Azalea following her much publicized breakup with basketball player Nick Young. The duo has been spending hours talking to each other over phone.
Russell has also recently admitted that he doesn’t feel responsible for Azalea-Young break up since he came to know that his Los Angeles Lakers teammate was caught cheating on Azalea again, after the couple tried to reconcile following the video leak, the Hollywood Life reported.
Young also ended up on a one night stand with his baby son’s mom, Keona Green, and landed in deep waters after he found out that she was pregnant with his second child. The NBA star sat down and apologized to Azalea and assured her that it was a one night stand and won’t happen again.
Azalea, however, was not open to accepting the apologies any longer and decided it would be a wiser decision to call it quits with Young, the Hollywood Life reported.
Russell initially felt guilty because his leaked video, where Young confessed that he cheated on Azalea, put the relationship in trouble. It is still not known how the video leaked. But with the skeletons now coming out of the closet, Russell no longer feels responsible for the split.
“D’Angelo slid into her DMs and asked for her number and she gave it to him. He then called her, apologizing for causing this ruckus but to his surprise, she instantly started thanking him,” the Hollywood Life quoted a source close to Russell as saying.
She told Russell she is thankful he brought all this to light with Nick because now she’s not a fool. The source added that Iggy even praised Russell for being a better man and a better basketball player than Young.
On Friday, Azalea posted a picture of herself sitting amidst beautiful flower arrangements in her dressing room and captioned it, “felt good to come in my dressing room and see all these flowers. Thanks genuinely to everyone that’s reminded me I am loved today.”
One of the arrangements, in particular, was reportedly sent by Russell, the Hollywood Life reported.
