Google will soon release the Android Nougat update, but manufacturers have yet to catch up with their Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. HTC is now seeding the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to its HTC Desire 626s unit, while HTC Nexus “Sailfish” Build.prop has supposedly leaked.
HTC Desire 626s Android 6.0 Update
Google has released the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for quite some time now, but it appears that manufacturers like HTC have yet to finish updating all intended devices. This time, HTC is seeding the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to its HTC Desire 626s via T-Mobile and Metro PCS.
According to Android Geeks, the release of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for HTC Desire 626s is a good thing, because users have been stuck with the Android 5.1 Lollipop for the longest time. Users can now be assured that even if the Nougat is just around the corner, they will be able to run their devices with the at least the most recent OS.
As with other Android updates, it can take a while before all devices will be updated. Some may already receive the prompt, but others may have to wait for a while. They can check their phone settings manually to see if the update is accessible. If not, they may have to check with their carriers to know the exact release.
HTC Nexus “Sailfish” Build.prop
Aside from updating its devices, HTC is also busy with the supposed upcoming release of HTC Nexus devices. A report from Droid Life, that the model that may have leaked is dubbed as the “sailfish.” The device is thought to be the smaller unit from the two Google-created units.
The build.prop leak revealed the current build of Android (NMD83D), security patch level (2016.08.05), processor (Snapdragon 820, msm8996), and display density (420dpi). While information still remains scarce, the process and display agree with previous leaks and speculations.
