HP Just Announced a Slim and Powerful Gaming LaptopIt looks like HP wants to get back into the gaming laptop arena with the announcement of a slim and powerful gaming laptop called the Omen.

“Gamers play to win and expect their PCs to do the same,” said Mike Nash, vice president, Product Management, Consumer Personal Systems, HP. “The HP OMEN delivers the power to dominate with a stunning design to give gamers the ultimate gaming experience.”

The HP Omen has a screen size of 15.6-inches, measures only 19.9mm thin, and weighs only 4.68lbs, making it a good contender in the thin gaming laptop arena along with the likes of the Razer Blade and the MSI GS-series. The screen of the Omen is a 1080p touchscreen display with a color gamut of 72%. It features an Nvidia GeForce GTX 860M graphics card and an Intel Core i7 Quad Core processor to power the latest games in the market. It also features a quad fan cooling system with two fans for intake and two fans for exhaust to keep the Omen cool even during long gaming sessions.

HP has also put a specialized and customizable keyboard with sex programmable function keys on the Omen along with an extra-wide touchpad and speakers powered by Beats Audio. To keep the sides of the laptop clear of any cables or jacks, all the ports of the laptop – which include an HDMI port, a mini DisplayPort, and 4 USB 3.0 jacks – are placed on the rear of the laptop in between the two exhaust outlets.

The HP Omen is now available in the United States on the HP online store at a starting price of $1,499.99 which comes with an Nvidia GTX860M with 2GB GDDR5, an Intel Core i7 quad-core processor, 8GB of DDR3 RAM,  and a 128GB SSD. The $1,599.99 configuration upgrades the 128GB SSD into a 256GB PCIe drive. The $1,699.99 configuration gets you the PCIe drive along with two more GBs of GDDR5 memory for a total of 4GB of  graphics memory. More configurations which upgrade the RAM, the PCIe drive, and other components further can be customized on the HP online store.
