After performing a number of changes on its search engine, it may be clear that Google is suppressing negative search results about Hillary Clinton.
This time, Google auto-completion for search keywords “Hillary Clinton he-” provided “Hillary Clinton’s headquarters,” “Hillary Clinton’s health plan,” and “Hillary Clinton’s healthcare plan.”
It was earlier reported that the Google CEO is an ardent supporter of Clinton’s presidential campaign, as reported by Breitbart.
On the other hand, other search engines would provide different auto-completions. When searched on Bing, the results return suggestions such as “Hillary Clinton’s health,” “Hillary Clinton’s health issues,” and “Hillary Clinton’s health and weight.”
Yahoo search results suggest terms like “Hillary Clinton’s health problems,” Hillary Clinton’s health,” and “Hillary Clinton’s health issues.”
New York Times tech columnist Farhad Manjoo asked Google to solve the issue of search results related to the former First Lady’s health. On early August, he tweeted, “Google should fix this. It shouldn’t give quarter to conspiracy theorists.”
However, this is not the first instance Google is accused of favoring one presidential nominee over another. On June 2016, Julian Assange, founder and editor of WikiLeaks, alleged that Google was directly involved in the Democratic nominee’s presidential campaign.
On late June, the issue came to light when a video was released showing Google changing search results in favor of the Democratic presidential nominee.
Earlier, it was reported by Morning News USA that Google manipulated its algorithm to hide search result suggestions regarding “Clinton body count.” When a user searched for the “clinton body,” it gave suggestions related to auto-repair shops, nothing to do with “Clinton body count.”
It was also reported that in the book When Google Met WikiLeaks, Assange talked about the special relationship among Google, the Democratic nominee, and the State Department. He gave significant information on how the relationship changes the future of the Internet.
Former Google CEO, Eric Schmidt, now Executive Chairman of Alphabet .Inc, had been running a digital firm called The Groundwork, which worked on the digital and media presence of the Democratic candidate, ensuring her entrance to the White House, according to Quartz.
