Hawaii Five-0 Season 7, which premiered September 23, opened a new chapter for Steve McGarett, played by Alex O’ Loughlin. According to spoilers, season 7 will see the return of former characters, including Catherine Rollins, played by Michelle Borth, which sparked off speculations of a reconciliation between Catherine and Steve.
Fans could see Loughlin meeting Jack Lord, who played Steve McGarett in the original series that aired from 1968- 1980, in the opening scene of the premiere episode of Hawaii Five-0 Season 7. The producers of the series decided to provide the series a cameo by a CGI Jack Lord, the Entertainment Weekly reported.
Last season, Steve decided to propose Catherine for marriage. But after the earthquake in Nepal, Catherine decided to extend help to the victims. Although Steve was not pleased with her decision, he still let her go. According to Game n Guide, Catherine might return to the island and rekindle her relationship with Steve.
Although Catherine’s return to the series is being speculated as a hint of reconciliation between her and Steve, executive producer Peter Lenkov claimed that Hawaii Five-0 Season 7 is not about Catherine and Steve’s reconciliation. Neither does she or Steve has the intention to mend the ties and get back together.
Season 7 will also see the return of Lyn Downey played by Sarah Carter, the TV Line reported. Lyn met Steve in Season 6 and they were soon going steady. However, she discovered the wedding ring that Steve intended to give Catherine, which might have compelled her to leave Steve momentarily.
Since Lenkov announced that season 7 has nothing to with Steve-Catherine reconciliation, Lyn’s return might indicate a possible relationship between her and Steve. Lyn’s arrival could give Steve an opportunity to slow down and sort out his priorities, something that was not possible while with Catherine since she was in the same profession.
