This is for real. J.K Rowling is releasing the 8th book of the most beloved series.
Harry Potter fans said goodbye to their dearly loved character in the epilogue to “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.” In a particular scene, Harry was seen waving off his children at Platform Nine and Three-Quarters, 19 years after the Battle of Hogwarts. This 8th book, “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child,” picks up from that moment on. What’s more, Ron and Hermione will join him too. “Now Potter fans across the globe will be able to join Harry, Ron and Hermione on the next stage of their journey,” Rowling announced on her Pottermore website.
When the news first hits the internet, fans run wild thinking that this is actually a novel and a prequel of the Harry Potter series. Rowling took to Twitter to clarify this. In her tweet, she said that it is the script of the stage play that is being published as a book. She explained that it is definitely not a novel or a prequel because the “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” is set 19 years later. According to CNN, fans will see Harry now as a father who struggles with his own son.
“J.K. Rowling and her team have received a huge number of appeals from fans who can’t be in London to see the play and who would like to read the play in book format — and so we are absolutely delighted to be able to make it available for them,” David Shelley, CEO of Little, brown Book Group, said in a statement obtained by CNN.
The Harry Potter 8th book will first be presented as a play in two parts in London’s West End. It is a Special Rehearsal Edition of the script for the “Harry Potter and Cursed Child Parts 1 & 11” play. The published book will be release on July 31, after the Harry Potter stage play was performed on stage.
