Who doesn’t want free ice cream? Well, that’s exactly what you’re going to get when Haagen-Dazs celebrates Free Cone Day! Not to mention, you’ll be able to help the ice cream company save the bees too.
During Free Cone Day, all you need to do is head over to your nearest Haagen-Dazs store to score some free ice cream. In fact, you can have whatever you want in a cone or cup, whether its a Haagen-Dazs ice cream, gelato or sorbet. Choose any flavor you want to have, whether its Vanilla Tangerine And Shortbread; White Chocolate Raspberry Truffle; Pineapple Coconut; Pralines And Cream; Espresso Chocolate Cookie Crumble; Orchard Peach Sorbet or others. And while you’re enjoying your frozen treat, take a moment to think about the hardworking bees. After all, if their existence is in danger, so is your ice cream.
Think about the bees when you get your free ice cream.
Haagen-Dazs wants to make one thing clear. Honeybees matter a lot in the ecosystem of its ice cream flavors. “Not only do bees help pollinate over one-third of the world’s crops, they also help in the creation of one third of our most beloved flavors like strawberry, rocky road, mango, and even our classic vanilla,” Haagen-Dazs explained in a statement.
Unfortunately, bee populations have been steadily decreasing at an alarming rate. This, in turn, is putting the future of the entire food system at risk. That’s exactly why this year, Haagen-Dazs is determined to make its Free Cone Day extra special by sharing some extra buzz.
According to the company, Haagen-Dazs fans can be instrumental in helping spread the word about the immediate threat that bees are facing. What’s more, there are things everyone can do to help keep them alive. These include planting native trees, shrubs and wildflower as well as protecting existing bee homes. If everyone can do this, the bees’ existence in the ecosystem can be saved.
At the same time, Haagen-Dazs has also been taking a more proactive role in saving the bees in recent years. In fact, it has been working on the Haagen-Dazs Love Honey Bees initiative since 2008. And last year, the ice cream company managed to install 6 1/2 miles of permanent hedgerow to give honeybees a year-long home. It is said to be the largest in the U.S. yet.
So when you go to get your free Haagen-Dazs ice cream, remember to think about the bees too. After all, without them, there may not be much ice cream to enjoy in the future.
Free Cone Day happens on May 9 from 4 to 8 PM. Discover where you can find a Haagen-Dazs store here.
