The anticipated marriage of Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton may come soon or even sooner, but it all depends on her children.
Amid reports claiming that the 46-year-old former No Doubt lead vocalist has turned down the marriage proposal of the 39-year-old country music star, a source shared with Hollywood Life the possible reasons behind her decision.
“[Gwen] definitely tells her kids what’s going on and runs things by them all the time,” the source divulged. “She wants their wellbeing accounted for, and if and when she goes through another marriage, she wants the kids to be on board.”
It can be recalled that prior to their highly-publicized romance, both Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton just came from divorce – her from Gavin Rossdale and him from Miranda Lambert.
“They really like Blake, but she definitely wants to make sure they’re okay, since the divorce is still very fresh for the kids,” the source reportedly continued.
In the meantime, Radar Online reported that while the “Don’t Speak” singer was “very touched” when the “Bringing Back the Sunshine” artist asked her hand for marriage, she “said she had to wait to make sure it was right for the kids.”
Gwen Stefani has three children with her ex-husband, while Blake Shelton still has none. Her children are 10-year-old Kingston, seven-year-old Zuma and two-year-old Apollo.
“Gwen fears their age will get in the way of long-term happiness,” the insider alleged. “She’s 14 years older than Blake’s ex-wife, Miranda Lambert!”
Meanwhile, the report noted as well that the “What You Waiting For?” singer has fears over her romance with her fellow “The Voice” coach because she “believes the time may have passed for her to have another baby.”
“She’s worried Blake won’t be happy in a marriage where he might never be a father,” the source reportedly said about the fears of Gwen Stefani about her relationship with Blake Shelton.
