Google To Announce Play Music Family Plans, Levels Itself With Apple And Spotify

Google is looking to fill the gap that differentiates it from being included in the ranks of Spotify and Apple Music – by introducing a family plan.

Google is looking to fill the gap that differentiates it from being included in the ranks of Spotify and Apple Music – by introducing a family plan.

According to Android Police, at the Nexus event, in addition to unveiling new Nexus phones and Chromecasts among other introductions, Google will announce the arrival of its new family plan pricing tier to its Google Play Music streaming service. As part of the plan, up to six family members, with each member having their own account, will be able to access unlimited streaming for just $14.99 a month.

Spotify’s family plan is priced at $14.99 a month for two members, $19.99 for three members, $24.99 for four members, and $29.99 for five members. While Google scores more points than Spotify in this regard, it is priced exactly as Apple’s – increasing the competition between the two giants.

According to GSM Arena, Google’s announcement comes as the expiration of the free three-month trial of Apple’s streaming service comes nearer. Whether this is a coincidence or not, only time will tell.
