Vice President Joe Biden officiated a wedding for two staff members of the White House on Monday.
The wedding of Brian Mosteller and Joe Mahshie was officiated under a temporary certificate from the District of Columbia. As reported by CNN, it was a first time for Biden. The couple requested that the vice president officiate their wedding.
Biden congratulated the couple by sharing a heart-warming message on Twitter. “Proud to marry Brian and Joe at my house,” Biden wrote. “Couldn’t be happier, two longtime White House staffers, two great guys.”
Biden’s wife, Dr. Jill Biden, also shared a message expressing her support. “Love is love!” she tweeted on Monday.
NBC News reports that only the immediate family were in attendance of the ceremony, which took place at the vice president’s residence on the grounds of the U.S. Naval Observatory in Northwest Washington.
Biden’s tweet received in excess of 16,000 retweets and 50,000 likes as of late Monday.
