George Davon Kennedy, 21, a Middle Tennessee State University student, was reportedly arrested in connection with the recent Florida beach gang rape incident. Kennedy is the third suspect caught.
Officials of Bay County Florida Sheriff’s Office informed that George was being held in Georgia’s DeKalb County.
The other two arrested in the case are 22-year-old Delonte Martistee of Bainbridge, Ga., and 23-year-old Ryan Austin Calhoun of Mobile, Ala. It is yet to be confirmed whether Kennedy was in touch with the two or are strangers to one another. Following the incident, Martistee and Calhoun were both suspended from Troy University.
Bay County Sheriff Frank McKeithen told reporters that a woman was raped in broad daylight on Panama City Beach between March 10 to 12. The exact date is yet to be confirmed.
“Within 10 feet of where this happened, there’s hundreds, hundreds of people standing there, watching, looking, seeing, hearing what’s going on,” McKeithen said.
Describing the video of the gang rape, Ruth Corley, spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office, said, “You can see in the video there are people two feet away. They were assaulting her and we believe the people around her knew she was being assaulted.”
The crime was filmed using a camera phone, which helped police track the culprits.
Calhoun was released on Tuesday after paying $50,000, while Martistee was held back in Bay County jail.
