“Game of Thrones” season 6 finale “Winds of Winter” will be the longest episode in the show’s history. With a 69-minute running time, the episode will tie up loose ends left behind this season as well as set the stage for season 7.
Directed by Miguel Sapochnik, the man behind Hardhome and last Sunday’s “Battle of the Bastards,” “Game of Thrones” season 6 finale has some great expectations to meet.
Focusing primarily on King’s Landing with Cersei Lannister’s upcoming trial, what happens in the finale will have huge consequences for the Seven Kingdoms.
TIME has revealed 6 new photos released by HBO for the upcoming episode 10. It shows scenes from The North, King’s Landing, Mereen, and the Riverlands.
With the new images and the trailer giving a few spoilers, we have a few ideas about what will happen in “Game of Thrones” season 6 episode 10.
First off, the scenes from the Riverlands where Jaime and Bronn along with Lannister troops ride to the Twins to meet with Walder Frey.
The Freys could just be giving their thanks to the Lannisters for helping them retake Riverrun but Walder Frey’s words “The Lannisters and the Freys send their regards.” has an ominous ring to it. Is this a prelude to a new alliance between the two houses?
Next are the scenes from the North which will probably feature Davos and Bran Stark. Davos who has just found the stag carving he gave to Shireen Baratheon now has an idea about what really happened.
He confronts Melisandre and forces her to reveal what she has done to the princess in front of Jon Snow. This rift will probably affect the fragile state of House Stark, which could have disastrous consequences.
Bran Stark, on the other hand, is currently still mastering his newfound powers as the new Three-Eyed Raven. He will probably try to view visions once again and revisit the Tower of Joy incident to find out the truth.
In King’s Landing, the trial of Cersei Lannister is set to begin. The trailer released by ‘Game of Thrones’ shows her, Tommen, and Margaery getting dressed. It is unknown whether she will indeed face her trial or arrange something to cause it to be delayed indefinitely.
The stills and the trailer from “Game of Thrones” episode 10 finale also show Lora Tyrell kneeling in the sept. It is still unclear if he is on trial himself or if her sister has secured his release by joining the Faith.
Finally, there is Tyrion Lannister giving counsel to Daenerys Targaryen. His words, “You’re in the great game now, and the great game is terrifying” hint that the Mother of Dragons is now in the war for the Iron Throne.
Could this mean that House Targaryen is finally ready to retake the Seven Kingdoms? With the addition of the Greyjoy fleet and 100,000 Dothraki to their military, they clearly have enough to begin the invasion.
