George R.R. Martin, “Game of Thrones” author, may not have written the ending of the book yet but he already has the feel of how it is going to end. He wants it “bittersweet,” and he wants someone to have a victory like how Frodo of “Lord of the Rings” had it.
George R.R. Martin talks of bittersweet ending
Speaking exclusively with The Observer, R.R. Martin said that he has no intentions of ending the book in brutality and bloody deaths. “The tone of the ending that I’m going for is bittersweet,” he said during the interview.
He is aiming for an ending that has an effect similar to how Tolkien ended “Lord of the Rings.”
“It ends with victory, but it’s a bittersweet victory,” R.R. Martin said.
He said that he had always been honest in saying that he is a “Lord Of The Rings” fan.
“Frodo is never whole again, and he goes away to the Undying Lands, and the other people live their lives. And the scouring of the Shire—brilliant piece of work, which I didn’t understand when I was 13 years old: ‘Why is this here? The story’s over?’” he shared.
“Every time I read it I understand the brilliance of that segment more and more. All I can say is that’s the kind of tone I will be aiming for. Whether I achieve it or not, that will be up to people like you and my readers to judge,” R.R. Martin said in conclusion.

Game of Thrones new casting alert
The Watchers on the Wall is also of information that the Game of Thrones production is looking to cast a male 30-35 years to play the part of a “legendary swordfighter.” The Watchers on the wall is guessing the casting call is pegged for Arthur Dayne.
Here is the description of the actor the production is looking for, as seen by Watchers of the Wall:
Male, 30-35 years old
This heroic handsome figure is a legendary sword fighter and we want someone who looks heroic and like a fierce and efficient experienced fighter.
We need a muscular physique and heroic look. He really does have to have physical impact. The flamboyant aspects of the fighting will be taken over by a stunt fighter but we need someone who looks like they can take care of themselves.
Appears in one episode and has a couple of lines but the fight scene in which he appears is massive and memorable.
Shoot dates are week commencing 28th September in Northern Ireland
