‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 6: ‘Robert’s Curse’ Predicts Cersei Lannister Will Die

“Game of Thrones” episode 9 witnessed another Stark bite the dust with Rickon Stark dying at the hands of Ramsay Bolton. Why are the Starks falling one by one?

One Redditor saw this as a confirmation of the so-called Roberts Curse,  a scene from season one which showed Robert Baratheon greeting the Starks, and touching them.

It’s hard to imagine the things that transpired this season, especially when compared to the show’s very first episode “Winter is Coming.” In that very episode, Robert’s Curse was cast on the Starks.

According to Mic, after arriving in Winterfell, Robert was first greeted by his old friend Ned Stark who hugged him. He then greeted, and touched, Catelyn Stark, Robb, and finally Rickon while only greeting Sansa and Arya.

These four were later systematically killed in “Game of Thrones.” Ned lost his head; Catelyn and Robb were dispatched in the Red Wedding, and now Rickon falling victim to Ramsay Bolton.

While the original Stark recipients of the curse are now dead, there is one more character who was touched by Robert Baratheon although not in the same manner as the Starks. Redditor NANAs_Mic believes this last recipient will be the next to die in the series.

The recipient of Robert’s Curse is none other than Cersei Lannister whom Robert Baratheon slapped for speaking out of turn. She avoided him as much as possible so much so that her children are all fathered by her brother, not her husband.

This one incident may have revealed Cersei’s fate then and there and with her trial set to begin in the upcoming episode, she might be living on borrowed time. Whether the curse is real or just mere coincidence, it might be a good idea to look out for such clues in future episodes.

Watch the “Game of Thrones” season finale Winds of Winter to see if Robert’s Curse proves to be true.
