‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 7: Cersei Lannister On The Iron Throne, For Now

“Game of Thrones” Season 6 is now finished with an epic ending showing Daenerys Targaryen sailing for the Seven Kingdoms. Now that Cersei Lannister sits on the Iron Throne and Jon Snow is King in the North, where does the balance of power lie at the moment?

There are currently 4 rulers vying for control over Westeros at the moment. We say 4 because the Night’s King is also a player in the game bent on plunging the Seven Kingdoms into an eternal winter.

The Three Players

Politically speaking, though, it only boils down to three, of which there is no doubt House Targaryen is the most powerful. With 110,000 men and 3 dragons Daenerys Targaryen has everything going for her.

Cersei Lannister has revealed her intent to play in the “Game of Thrones” when she made herself queen. Joining in however makes her the weakest player with only House Lannister backing her claim.

King in the North Jon Snow fares better with all the northern houses under him. The Vale under Littlefinger is currently his ally but could abandon him if the time comes.

The Night King is still unable to launch his invasion due to the Wall which bars his passage south. This leaves the three factions to fight it out for the Iron Throne themselves.

House Targaryen Will Win The Game Of Thrones

With additional allies in the Reach and Dorne, it would be a miracle for Queen Cersei or the King in the North to repel the invasion. However, war is not the only option for the North. After the revelation that Jon is also part Targaryen and Daenerys’ nephew, an accord can also be reached between them.

This only leaves the Iron Throne, which only has the option of fighting. With more than 100,000 soldiers and 3 dragons House Lannister cannot stand a chance. Their only option to save their skins is to abandon Cersei and King’s Landing.

After Jaime Lannister sees what she has become, this could be a possibility. He could still face punishment though given that it was him who murdered Aerys Targaryen, Daenerys’ father.

We’ll see how all this plays out come “Game of Thrones” season 7.
