‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 6 Finale: Lady Stoneheart Return Confirmed!

“Game of Thrones” season 6 ends this month.  There are many things that fans believe should have happened given and things they believe shouldn’t have happened.

A perfect example of the former is the whole Lady Stoneheart plot. Even though both the showrunners and George R.R. Martin deny it all clues point to her appearance, and a new leak kind of confirms it!

According to TV Guide, a leaked description of the season 6 finale “Winds of Winter” contains a passage about Brienne meeting a friend turned foe. Who is this friend and what happened to him/her to consider Brienne as her enemy?

Again we only need to look at the books for an answer. Should the spoilers prove to be true there is only one character that fits the friend turned foe bill: Catelyn Stark. “Game of Thrones” fans needs to look at Martin’s A Storm Of Swords to find out how Lady Stark returns from the dead.

After the Red Wedding, Frey men threw the naked body of Catelyn Stark from the ramparts of The Twins. She was later by members of the Brotherhood without Banners and was revived by Beric Dondarrion through the powers of the Red God.

While Beric Dondarrion hasn’t been seen since they left to fight the Lannisters, Thoros of Myr is set to return this season. Actress Michelle Fairley was also seen on the show’s set in Belfast; note that The Hound was also seen wandering in the set before his return.

In the novels, the vengeful Catelyn Stark commands the Brotherhood without Banners as Lady Stoneheart. After she sees Brienne is carrying Oathkeeper, the Valyrian steel sword forged from House Stark’s ancestral greatsword Ice, she no longer believes her loyalty to her and proceeds to hang her and Pod.

This might explain why the Brotherhood without Banners reappeared in The Broken Man and slaughtered Septon Ray’s commune. Is it because they are under the command of a vengeful Lady Stoneheart that they abandon their duty as protectors of the small folk? Find out when “Game of Thrones” season 6 finale airs on June 26, only on HBO.
