French Open: Day 3 Results

Most of the top-seed players won their respective first round games on day 3 at Rolland Garros.

But 6-seed Eugenie Bouchard lost in straight sets, 6-4 6-4 to unseeded Kristina Mladenovic. American Jack Sock defeating 10-seed Grigor Dimitrov in straight sets 7-6, 6-2, 6-3 was another big upset of the day. Dimitrov is considered as one of the sport’s most promising talents.

Top-seeded Djokovic easily routed Jarkko Nieminen, 6-2, 7-5, 6-2. Djokovic is in hunt for his first title at Rolland Garros. On the other hand, top-seed Serena Williams blew Czech rival Andrea Hlavackova, 6-2, 6-3.

Nine-time winner of the French Open, Raphael Nadal, currently 6 seed, cruised to the second round with a comfortable 6-3, 6-3, 6-4 over Quentin Halys.

No. 4 Petra Kvitova defeated Marina Erakovic, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 while 5 seed Caroline Wozniacki eked Karin Knapp, 6-3, 6-0.

Seventh seed David Ferrer registered his 300th clay-court victory by beating Lukas Lacko 6-1, 6-3, 6-1.
