A Florida man named Timothy Bontrager, 29, fell asleep after breaking into a house over the weekend. He was arrested by Sarasota police and has been charged with felony burglary of an occupied house.
Bontrager apparently fell asleep on the couch of owner Marte Pittman, 44, while trying to rob the house. Pittman informed police after seeing an unknown man sleeping on her couch when she woke up at about 7:20 a.m.
When she woke him and asked who he was and what he was doing at her home, he apologized.
Pittman called police, and Sarasota officials reported around 8 a.m. When Marte told Timothy she was calling the police, he started pacing around the living room and then walked away.
When officers arrived, Bontrager already left. The owner informed that he had entered through an unlocked sliding glass door at the back of the house.
Pittman later discovered that her wallet, driver’s license, credit and debit cards were missing from the table in the living room.
Officers spotted Bontrager while he was walking along a nearby road. He was arrested and was transported to the Sarasota County Jail.
