After eighteen long years and more than a decade of clamor among fans, Square Enix has finally announced it is developing a remake to Final Fantasy VII, one of the most critically acclaimed PlayStation game ever.
During Sony’s E3 press conference, a short teaser trailer was shown to the audience. The trailer lays out the iconic Midgar and its citizens. While the main characters aren’t shown, aside from Barret’s weapon and Clouds sword, the FF7 logo is flashed at the end.
Right after that, the much-awaited word, “Remake,” follows, sending the E3 audience screaming with delight.
The trailer also implies the game’s availability for other consoles, saying that fans can “Play it first on PlayStation.” Kotaku speculates it will be out for PC and even Xbox One.
Before the event, gaming websites have already spread rumors about a possible remake.
No release date has been mentioned, unfortunately. Now a question remains. What about that PC port?
During the same press conference, Square Enix also announced a new Hitman game, its PS4 version to have six contracts exclusive to it.
