Iran, India and then Lebanon. Gilas Pilipinas continued their winning streak in the FIBA Asia 2015 quarterfinals on Thursday by beating Lebanon 82-70 in Changsha, Hunan, China.
Gilas will now face Japan in the semifinals of the tournament. Philippines defeated Japan in the second round group phase. Reigning champions Iran will face hosts China in the other semifinals of the tournament.
Jayson Castro rocked Lebanon defense notching up 25 points, one assist, three rebounds and two steals. In the pivotal third quarter Castro took charge to guide Gilas to a safe zone from a tight 37-32 lead at half time.
Big man Andray Blatche was another pillar in Gilas’ victory. He posted 24 markers, 17 rebounds, 3 assists and two blocks. Terrence Romeo who played significant role coming off the bench against Iran, also signed off with 10 points. Marc Pingris and Calvin Abueva added 8 and 7 points, respectively.
Gilas also got the advantage of 25 points coming off the bench, while Lebanese had only 7 points in that respect. Mohamad Ali Haidar notched up 18 points and 9 rebounds for the Lebanese.
