Vin Diesel announced at Universal’s CinemaCon, an event that brings together theater owners, that there will be an eight installment for the “Fast and Furious” series.
He said that the movie is expected to release on April 14, 2017. He shared the news with more than 4,000 theater owners attending the event at Caesars Palace.
However, the title of the movie has not been confirmed yet.
In his speech, Diesel talked about attending the event “with my brother Pablo” two years ago when he had made the announcement about Furious 7. Pablo is Diesel’s nickname for the late Paul Walker.
According to Mashable, Diesel told the audience, “There is something you all did.
“For me, personally, you all gave me so much confidence. There was so much love. You made me feel like we could actually make history with Furious Seven. You’ve been so loyal all along. … Because there’s a pride that you have that we feel, the people that make the movie, the studio that I call my home, my family. You make us feel like we ant [sic] to give you the best move in the world to share with you.”
In a separate statement, Diesel told theater owners, “It means a lot to me to get your blessing,” as reported by Variety.
He also suggested that another installment was underway during his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
“Furious 7,” the seventh chapter in the series, grossed $1 billion in 17 days of its opening. It became the fastest movie to touch this milestone.
Currently, the movie has collected an excess of $1.1 billion in box office sales.
On Thursday, Universal announced that the sequels of “Fifty Shades of Grey” will release on February 2017 and 2018.
