Three people have been reportedly killed in a murder-suicide incident.
Lisa Gerhart shot her teenage son and 12-year-old daughter before turning the gun onto herself. The bodies were discovered on the night of July 25 inside their home in Gilbert, a suburb of Phoenix.
According to AZ Central, the police received calls about the incident at around 9 p.m. on July 25. Upon their arrival, they discovered a handgun lying close to Gerhart’s body.
“We’re almost sure this is a murder-suicide, but we haven’t closed the case,” Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio said, as reported by WAVE. “We’re leaving a little part open just in case someone else could have caused these three deaths.”
Neighbor Connie Rivere, who said she was “devastated” by the deaths, said Gerhart’s husband had recently left her. The same fact was mentioned in a press briefing by Arpaio, who said there had “possibly [been] a separation between the husband and wife.”

According to Gerhart’s Facebook page, she and her family lived in England previously. She completed her high school from Mesa High School and her maiden name was Lisa Tucker. Gerhart’s husband, David Gerhart, has his own business called My Computer Works, according to his Facebook page.
Although the case is being considered a murder-suicide, a final confirmation regarding the same will not be made until the arrival of the autopsy results.
“It’s a sad situation,” Arpaio said. “It’s a big problem facing our county and our country, domestic violence.”
