Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal had been a long-time admirer of ace German International Thomas Muller. But United authorities have clearly denied the claims that they have made a £70 million bid for Thomas Muller, according to sources.
Earlier, reports from Germany claimed that the English Premiership giants have submitted an official bid of €100 million (£69.5 million) for the Bayern Munich star, but the Bavarians have rejected it immediately. Bayern are in no mood to sell Muller.
But senior United sources have dismissed the club’s link with the German forward.
The Old Trafford outfit has raided Bayern Munich this summer for £15 million signing of superstar midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger. Munich chairman Karl Heinz Rummennigge is under tremendous pressure to prevent anymore stars from leaving the Bundesliga giants.
United coach Van Gaal has worked with the 25-year-old forward during his stint at Bayern Munich, and was eying to include Muller in his scheme of things at Old Trafford.
After having sold Robin Van Persie, United are looking to rope in another star striker ahead of the transfer deadline September 1.
