Arsenal blew “Manchester United” on Sunday’s Premiership encounter at home 3-0. United boss Louis Van Gaal was amazed to see his side’s show in the first session of the game. The Red Devils conceded all the three goals in the first half of the match.
The Gunners dished out a blistering display in the opening 19 minutes of the game, pumping in three goals which sealed the game in their favor. Alexis Sanchez scored a brace, and German star Mesut Ozil added one more to the tally.
Premiership Giants United started the game as the league-leaders but produced a dismal show.
“I didn’t expect that. I was surprised. No performing our gameplan, no will to win,” Van Gaal said.
“We were top of the league so I was surprised — maybe ‘amazed’ is a better word. When you give a team like Arsenal so much space to play football, you know you shall lose.
“We have prepared ourselves in that way, to play more compact but not to lose our aggression. It was amazing for me and very disappointing.”
Van Gaal is more concerned about the international break which shall start from Monday. The Dutchman gets no opportunity to rebuild the team.
“We have lost in a way you cannot lose when you are top of the league. You cannot start like that. The worst thing is everyone is flying away [for internationals]. So I cannot build a new situation to build up confidence.”
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger on the other hand, pointed out that this victory was inspirational.
“We were good, we started strong to press to win the ball and to be quick in transition. It worked. We missed our game in the week. We are on a good run in the Premier League but we were not disciplined on Tuesday night. We responded today.” He said.
