The success of “Empire” season 1 was evident from the first time it was aired in January 2015. As season 2 premiers on Sept 23 2015, expectations are high. Recently, Lee Daniels was present in the Beverly Hilton in order to answer question of journalists who are eager to know more about the show.
The journalists were present to get more from the co-creator of “Empire.” Apart from Daniels, Brian Grazer, Ilene Chaiken, and Taraji P. Henson were present in the publicity team of Fox.
While asked by a journalist, “Do you see a little bit of Suge [Knight] in Cookie?” in the topic of why “general-market audiences” will be interested in this kind of show, Daniel replied, “There’s a lot of sugar in Cookie!”
The panel from Fox promised a lot of bling, backstabbing, and more in the next season. The last season saw Lucious Lyon in prison for murder.
“Empire” was the only show in the decade to have a Nielson rating go higher in five consecutive weeks. With a viewer number of 17 millions the show is surely a good run for the producer’s money. Season 2 will come with 18 episodes instead of 12, while the show promises a lot of twist at every point. According to Henson, she knew that the show would be a hit before the second episode was over.
Recently Fox has released a 55-second trailer of the show where Lucious is shown dancing with other inmates. When Lucious meets Cookie Lyon he just says, “It’s crazy how I can love you and hate you at the same moment.” Cookie responds, “I call it torture.”
Season 2 of “Empire” starts from where it ended and continues three months after Lucious Lyon was arrested. Lucious is now trying to run the empire from the prison while the state prosecutor tries to bring him down. Cookie stages a star-studded #FreeLucious concert in his support.
“Empire” season 2 promises a lot more than the previous season. It’s a matter of days until you will be fed with action and drama the show has promised.
