2016 Rio Olympics athlete Elena Delle Donne has recently come out as gay and she has been open with her relationship with fiancé Amanda Clifton in their Instagram pages.
The 26-year-old U.S Women’s basketball team player, who stands as 6-foot-5, got engaged with girlfriend Amanda Clifton last June 2.
Elena Delle Donne revealed that she is gay and confirmed the news in a recent interview with Vogue magazine’s August issue.
She told ESPN, “It was just one of those articles where they came into my home, spent a couple days with me, and Amanda is a huge part of my life. So to leave her out wouldn’t have made any sense. It’s not a coming out article or anything. I’ve been with her for a very long time now, and people who are close to me know that, and that’s that.”
Elena Delle Donne also shares an apartment in Chicago and Wilmington with Amanda Clifton, a report from Hollywood Life said.
The MVP, who also considers her girlfriend as her best friend, has also been vocal in showing her to public as she greeted her in her birthday a couple of months ago.
She said in an Instagram photo, “Happy Birthday to my best friend! Can’t wait to celebrate even if it’s just for an hour @mandaclif.” The post featured a collage of their photos together with some kids.
Lately Amanda Clifton showered her fiancé all the support she could ever give by flying to Rio for the MVP star.
In a series of Instagram posts, the blond beauty showed the fans their photos together in Rio while captioning it with words of support and encouragement.
