The “Married at First Sight” finale was meant to be a dramatic one. With only two couples contemplating whether or not they should continue their vows, one has decided to part ways.
While Tres Russell and Vanessa Nelson decided to keep their vows intact, the decision was tough for Sam Role and Niel Bowlus. David Norton and Ashley Doherty already ended their relationship in the last episode, Us Magazine reports.
After six weeks of staying together, Sam generated feelings for her husband, but it was not reciprocated by Niel. The last two weeks were crucial for the couple as Sam became more affectionate towards Niel. While Niel said he liked her change and had given her mercy for behaving so rudely in the first two weeks, he could not reciprocate her feelings.
He said, “I’ve never been in a relationship that has had so many ups and downs.”
Sam had an emotional answer. “I think that the past few weeks that we’ve had together have been more ups than downs, and I think that to have some downs is normal in any relationship, whether you’re friends or married or just a family relationship — but the positive have outweighed the negative for me, and I cherish you.”
Sam also mentioned, “I cherish you as a person, and I cherish you as my husband, and for that reason, I do not want a divorce. I would like to stay married.”
While Niel admitted he had strong feelings, there was something that was holding him back. Finally, he said, “I want to get a divorce.”
The episode ended in tears. The only couple who could continue their marriage in real life is Tres and Vanessa.
Six months after filming the “Married at First Sight” finale, Sam and Niel are still friends. New York Post reports that they are reacting in a positive and matured manner. They both want to get married again, and this time, they don’t want to repeat their mistakes.
