During the Nintendo Direct live stream on Thursday, the game company has announced that the 3DS port of Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King will indeed launch in North America, but in 2017.
Square Enix’s critically acclaimed PS2 game is set to grace the Nintendo 3DS, but fans will have to wait for next year to get their hands on a copy. The RPG was intended to be released in the U.S. this year.
Fans need not be sad, though. It has also been announced that Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past will be released on the 3DS on September 16, so RPG fans have something to play before the arrival of the much-awaited Journey of the Cursed King.
Dragon Quest VIII is also playable on iOS and Android devices. The game tells the story of a group of heroes who must stop an evil wizard from using a magical scepter for his nefarious deeds. It was previously announced that the 3DS port will feature a new storyline and two new party members, namely Gelda and Morrie.
