Apple’s iPhone 7 previously made headlines especially since some sources claimed it will not have significant updates in favor of the iPhone 8. However, new leaks now suggest that it may have its fair share of upgrades that will make it an interesting mobile unit. Can the iPhone 7 deliver?
iPhone 7 Leaks
Previously, it was reiterated that Apple has bigger plans for the iPhone 8 instead of the iPhone 7.
“The biggest planned change in this year’s phones is the removal of the headphone plug, which will make the phone thinner and improve its water resistance, said people familiar with the matter. The Lightning connector will serve double-duty as a port for charging the phone and for connecting headphones, they said,” wrote the Wall Street Journal.
According to Forbes’ Gordon Kelly, the change could encourage polarize opinion, but more leaks suggest that Apple has additional things in store for the iPhone 7.
“[The] iPhone 7 has its proximity sensor on the front changed to the dual specification in addition to the ambient light sensor on the side moving from the left side to the right with a slightly longer receiver,” noted by Japanese blog Mac Otakara.
Kelly, on the other hand, shared his thoughts on the matter: “As such, with iPhone sales falling for the first time ever this year, it seems Apple is having something of a time out and hanging everything on the 2017 iPhone 8 (yes, it will jump straight to ‘8’). This will be a complete redesign with an all glass chassis and (very familiar) edgeless display.”
New iPhone EarPods?
Apple Insider, additionally, reportedly about a leak of photos that reveal possible Lightning-equipped EarPods for Apple’s iPhone 7. According to the report, the pair photos that surfaced online reveal that there could be Lightning-ready versions of the EarPods that could be included for the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus.
Information came from Chinese blogging site Weibo which has a track record for sourcing out information from Apple’s supply chain. Apart from the flat and elongated Lightning connector, the revealed headphones look like the EarPods bundled with the iPhone 6s that also comes with an inline remote.
