A Donald Trump rally is never complete without some kind of controversy.
Controversy is exactly what unfolded during a recent rally for the official Republican presidential nominee in Ashburn, Virginia. This time, however, Trump did not have to say anything. This is because a child decided to do the talking for him, and the words that came out of his mouth stunned many, at the very least.
“Take that b*tch down,” yelled one boy at the rally. This was the child’s immediate reaction after Trump mentioned Hillary Clinton’s name. According to a report from the Los Angeles Times, the boy was seated next to his mother in the media section and did not appear to be more than 10 years old.
His mother proceeded to defend her son’s profanity. During an interview with reporters, the child’s mother identified herself as Pam Kohler from Mount Vernon, Virginia. She remarked, “I think he has a right to speak what he wants to.”
Kohler also said that she believes her son learned to speak profanities from “Democratic schools.” She was also heard by one NBC reporter Katy Tur saying, “Children are children.”
According to a 2012 report from Psychology Today, it is the social environment of the child as well as his parent’s “pattern of discipline” that will determine whether a child “unleash a curse word.”
Meanwhile, Travis Wright, assistant professor of Multicultural Education, Teacher Education and Childhood Studies at the University of Wisconsin, discovered that some children like the attention they receive when they use profanity. In fact, they may even use it to “show off to” other people.
With more reporters beginning to gather around her, Kohler proceeded to walk out of the Briar Woods High School auditorium. She refused to state her son’s name or age. She also refused to have him answer questions from the media regarding his surprising display of profanity.
“He’s a minor so he can’t be interviewed,” Kohler explained.
