The news went viral on social media with the hashtag #JeSuisChien, which means “I am dog.” People around the world tweeted to pay tribute to Diesel, who was a dog of Belgian Shepherd origin. The seven-year-old dog’s death has been confirmed by the police. The hashtag was used more than 55,000 times following the death of the dog. The police carried out an apartment siege for seven hours in the Paris suburb of Saint-Denis. The dog was killed anytime in between.
Police posted a photo of “Diesel” the dog, stating, “assault and explosives search dogs are indispensable in the missions of the operators of the RAID.”
