Delonte West had gone through a troublesome phase. The former NBA player was tormented with psychological disorders.

The former NBA player was spotted around 10 p.m. Saturday by an NBA fan, TMZ reports.

“Are you Delonte West?” the fan asked him, to which he reportedly responded, “I used to be, but I’m not about that life anymore.”

The fan posted Delonte West’s photos on Instagram which reveals the former player wandering shoeless in a hospital gown with eyes closed, the result of a history of mental illness that went untreated. The photo was later removed.

West himself revealed his bipolar disorder shortly after reacting wildly on a referee during a pre-season game in 2008. Dr. Bill Cole, founder of International Mental Game Coaching Association, pointed out that this isn’t uncommon for bipolar patients.

“Bipolars are noted for ‘not’ continuing medications,” Cole told Fox News. “They start to feel normal and don’t think they need meds and situations like this occur.”

West’s eight-year NBA career ended in 2012, reports Yahoo. West told a Washington Post reporter in 2015 that his childhood was littered with mental health issues. Bipolar disorder is a lifelong struggle. “Maybe that’s what happened here,” Cole said about West’s behavior.
