On Friday, Letterman appeared on a show featuring Steve Martin and Martin Short at the Majestic Theatre in San Antonio and made jokes about Trump. It was Letterman’s first public appearance since his retirement from the CBS’ Late Show.
“I know you’re saying to yourselves, ‘Why is he here?'” Letterman addressed the audience. “By the way, I am so happy to be out of the house.”
“I had no regrets. None. I was happy,” he said, according to Sydney Morning Herald. “And then a couple of days ago, Donald Trump said he was running for president.”
