Rosario Dawson, the lead actress in Netflix’s “Daredevil” went political and bashed an activist for favoring Hillary Clinton. She accused the supporter of undermining the democratic process.
Dawson, the actress who plays Claire Temple in Netflix’s television series, “Daredevil,” shifted her attention from television into politics, especially after a civil rights advocate relayed her disapproval of presidential candidate, Bernie Sanders’ stand on immigration bills.
As reported by Elle, Dawson reacted to activist Dolores Huerta’s critiques last Thursday, her opinion on Sanders’ political stand on immigration is just wrong. According to Huerta, Hillary has a better immigration track record and plan.
Dawson disagreed. First, she commended Huerta for being an advocate for people who were less fortunate and that of the minorities. She then put up a snapshot of a table comparing Sanders and Clinton’s efforts in the said issue and concluded that what Huerta claimed was actually erroneous as many facts were omitted to reach her conclusion.
After that, she said, “The democratic process, as it was intended, is quite simple: Present your facts, track records and plans, move forward honestly and openly, debate, call out discrepancies, explain and educate, then let the American people decide whom they would like to lead the country based on such answers.”
As reported by Huffington Post, Dawson particularly reacted to Huerta’s statement that read, “When you have a conflict, that means that there are truths that have to be addressed on each side of the conflict. And when you have a conflict, then it’s an educational process to try to resolve the conflict. And to resolve that, you have to get people on both sides of the conflict involved so that they can dialogue.”
Dawson said Huerta should practice what she preaches because Huerta’s opinion came from misterpretations of Bernie’s stands on issues. She accused Huerta and America Ferrera of spreading lies about Sanders. ” I recognized that very same tactic that the mainstream media has been using when I read your opinion piece, where the details of Bernie Sanders’ voting record and positions were misrepresented and, again, when you and America Ferrera spread the false story on Twitter that Bernie supporters chanted “English only” at a Nevada caucus,” Dawson wrote. The actress said although the allegations have been debunked by multiple media outlets and video evidence, Heurta and Ferrera did not bother taking down their posts.
In her letter, she said what Clinton’s actions go “directly against what you and every other activist before and after you has fought for: the rights of the people based on the Declaration of Independence and the principles of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”
She also revealed that she was “surprised, dismayed, and concerned” that Huerta was so in favor of Clinton that she is willing to omit facts to relay her point, which undermined democracy in the United States.
Who knew that “Daredevil” actress, Rosario Dawson, could also be an engaging citizen when it came to politics? In fact, the actress has also shared on her Facebook account several posts that purported to her being against Hillary Clinton winning the presidential race.
