Derek Hough may not be a part of the upcoming Dancing with the Stars Season 23, which begins in September, but The Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice expressed willingness to be a part of the show.
Hough, who won season 21 with Bindi Irwin, confirmed he will not be a part of the show this season while promoting Hairspray Live! at NBC’s summer TCA press tour. The Emmy winner, however, assured that he is not closing his doors for a possible comeback.
“I’m not one for closing chapters in that way, especially for something that’s so important to me,” Derek said, as quoted by the E! News. “And that’s been like family for so many tears. So, for me in my mind, that door is always open, and we’ll see!”
Hough will not be totally out of sight, as he will be gearing up for his next role as Corny Collins in NBC’s Hairspray Live! that is due to air in December.
“Hands-down the best dancer on television and one of the best in the entertainment business, Derek Hough, will be perfect in the role of Corny Collins, the cocky song-and-dance-man who hosts the TV show every teenager in Baltimore wants to be on,” NBC boss Robert Greenblatt said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Giudice said she would love to take part in Dancing with the Stars Season 23 because she is a big fan of the show. “They said, ‘Would you ever do it?’ And I said, ‘Of course, if I can, I would do it,’ she was quoted as saying by the Reality TV World following a book signing event.
However, she had to turn down the offer because of issues relating to scheduling. “I love Dancing with the Stars. It’s one of my favorites. They did ask me to be on it, but I couldn’t because I was doing Housewives. I think they’re kind of mad at me,” she said.
