The Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants will kick off their campaign in the 2016 NFL Season on Sunday. Both teams are lined up among the favorites this season, particularly in the National Football Conference East.
The Giants are expected to rely on their offense, which will be a big challenge for the not-so-impressive pass defense of the Cowboys. Giants quarterback Eli Manning is expected to wreak havoc on offense, similar that he did last season. The star signal caller is coming off the best statistical season of his NFL career.
Odell Beckham is also a man to watch on Sunday. Beckham and Manning have proven time and time again that they are among the best quarterback-wide receiver tandem in the league.
On the other hand, the Cowboys will lean on a rookie quarterback. Veteran QB Tony Romo was supposed to start for the Cowboys at least for the first several weeks of the new season, but the 36-year-old suffered a back injury. According to CBS Sports, Romo could miss the first six weeks of the season.
It remains to be seen, though, whether he could be as effective as he was during the preseason against New York’s formidable defense. The Giants added Olivier Vernon, Janoris Jenkins and Damon Harrison during the offseason. According to NFL Spin Zone, all three are expected to have immediate impact for Dallas.
With Romo out, the Cowboys will have no other choice but to rely on a quarterback drafted in the fourth round. But it could actually turn out as a blessing in disguise for Dallas, especially after Dak Prescott turned heads with impressive performances in their preseason games.
The Dallas Cowboys vs New York Giants match is scheduled to start at 4:25 p.m. ET and will be shown live on FOX. Fans can also catch the action through online live stream via NFL Sunday Ticket. Fans can get NFL Sunday Ticket subscription to watch all 2016 NFL regular-season games.
