Dale Earnhardt Jr. got engaged with long-time girlfriend Amy Reimann on Wednesday in Germany.
The news first came to surface when Reimann announced her engagement on Twitter. She took to the social media platform to express her delight.
“I’m completely overwhelmed with love & joy,” tweeted Amy, who posed showing her engagement ring. The place seemed to be a Lutheran church.
On the other hand, Dale tweeted, “Looking forward to the rest of my life with this amazing girl,” as a response to the tweet made by Amy.
USA Today reported that Earnhardt was in Germany this week for a research of his genealogy. He ended up getting engaged and the couple seems to be really excited about that. We may well expect them to get married soon.
Amy and Dale have been dating each other since 2009. Dale is the son of Dale Earnhardt, seven-time Sprint Cup champion. Dale Jr. is the most popular NASCAR star after winning 12 consecutive Most Popular Driver awards.
Dale Jr has always been a popular celebrity sportsperson, and as ESPN reports, he announced last year that he will have a $2 million wedding.
The 40-year-old driver is never married and kept his relationship out of the media for quite a long time. USA Today also reported that though the wedding may be on the cards, Dale has serious jewelry phobia. He does not like anyone wearing jewelry around him. However, he had to allow Amy wear the engagement ring.
Dale Earnhardt Jr said in February, “I’m not going to be held accountable (to wear a ring) and she can do whatever she wants. I figure if we ever get to that step in life, I owe her that much. I’ll have to put up with (her wearing a ring). But I’m free of all my obligations in that regard.”
Earnhardt Jr is on a trip to Germany with his sister Kelley, who is also excited about the whole event. No matter if he finds documents about his family or not, this trip is surely quite successful.
