This College Student Has The Best Classmate Ever, Her Grandfather

Learning has no age limit. This 82-year-old grandfather will be attending college and his granddaughter will be her classmate.

Melanie Salazar expressed her excitement that she and her grandfather would be exchanging notes, taking the same classes and answering exams together.

In one of her tweets, she posted photos of them together attending the same university. She is so proud of his grandfather who did not let old age become a hindrance.

“I’m so proud of my grandpa for finishing his first day at PAC this semester! 82 years old and not giving up!!!” she tweeted

The post had been shared over 2,000 times and liked almost thrice that number.

Melanie could not believe how such a personal moment between them will be liked and shared by so many people.

“I posted the pictures innocently because I’m proud of my grandpa. And they got one retweet and then another it just went off from there. It was very unexpected,” Melanie related her story to TODAY.

Rene Neira, 82, needs to take a final course in microeconomics before being conferred with associate’s degree from Palo Alto College in San Antonio, Texas.

He started pursuing higher education in 1952, fresh from high school. It came to a halt in the 1970s as he got married and started a family. In 2009, after his wife passed away, he continued studying.

Melanie had grown up seeing his grandfather getting ready for his college classes. But it became more fantastic. She will go to the same school as her grandfather and will end up classmates too.
