CM Punk finally made his debut though the results were not really surprising. Mickey Gall gave the former WWE champion a rude welcome, forcing him to tap out after applying a rear-naked choke right in the very first round.
Punk came out seeming prepped and trim against Gall but the story was obviously different when the match got underway. The 37-year-old seemed loose but was in general not ready (yet) for the UFC.
Not the Last Fight for Punk
Despite that loss, Punk made it clear that he would not give up so easily. Apparently, he intends to fight one more time and it remains to be seen who he could be up against.
The best person to perhaps arrange that is UFC president Dana White. In an interview which can be watched in the video below, White seemed a bit unsure of the future of Punk.
Though it was a weekend of strange things with some people getting trapped in the elevator and so on, one could see some apprehension on his part as far as another fight involving Punk in the UFC is concerned.
If not the UFC, Where?
Punk wants another shot but it may not be in the UFC. That is what White was trying to reason, believing that getting inside the Octagon was no easy task.
Punk is a household name thanks to his WWE tenure and it would not be surprising to find that the UFC tried to ride on that popularity that gave Punk his slot at UFC 203. After seeing that impact, White’s body language seems to go off in a different direction.
It was a gamble that Punk and the UFC took and somehow it didn’t pay off despite his class act and humble acceptance of his defeat. Either way, the UFC is more inclined to deliver for the fans. Sadly, Punk doesn’t seem to be included in the mix.
