Clint Eastwood has reportedly refused to accept the Medal of Freedom, saying President Barack Obama is not his president.
Clint Eastwood Medal of Freedom Rejected?
Eastwood’s refusal was published in an article with a sensationalized headline. In addition, the article contained a post the actor allegedly posted the Twitter using the handle @ClintEastwoodLA.
However, @ClintEastwoodLA is not associated with the actor, according to Snopes. The account bio shows that it is run by “Walt Kowalski.” Kowalski was Eastwood’s character in “Gran Torino.”
“NOT Clint Eastwood. I’m Walt Kowalski #GranTorino, Callahan #DirtyHarry & Munny in#Unforgiven,” the account bio said.
“I’m the good, the bad, & the ugly. #Fansite. Now #GetOffMyLawn.”
The Twitter post could not be found on @ClintEastwoodLA anymore. It was either deleted by Kowalski or fabricated by the website that published the story.
It was not sent by the actor. More importantly, the actor is not one of the recipients of the medal.

President Obama named 21 recipients. The President’s Medal of Freedom is the highest civilian award in the U.S.
“The Presidential Medal of Freedom is not just our nation’s highest civilian honor,” Obama said.
“It’s a tribute to the idea that all of us, no matter where we come from, have the opportunity to change this country for the better.”
Another actor, Tom Hanks, is also the recipient. Hanks is a five-time Best Actor Oscar nominee. He received the Oscar for “Philadelphia” and “Forrest Gump.” In addition, he is also a social and environmental activist.
