The folks at GOG.com have officially announced that they’ve partnered with Disney Interactive to re-release more than 20 classic video games from the LucasArts game library to GOG.com, all DRM-free. This is a collaboration that has been a long time coming and much awaited by the community ever since GOG.com started its business of re-releasing classic PC games.
“We are very excited to be able to bring these classic interactive titles to our platform; it has been a long-time dream of ours,” said Guillaume Rambourg, Managing Director at GOG.com. “Luckily, Disney Interactive is always looking for new ways to give players access to content, so this was a natural collaboration. To those gamers playing these titles for the first time…May the Force Be With You!”
GOG.com and Disney Interactive started this partnership by releasing 6 games from the library including Star Wars: X-Wing Special Edition, Star Wars: TIE Fighter Special Edition, Sam & Max Hit the Road, The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.
Some of the released ‘Special Edition’ games will include not only the game’s original content but also extra content including the game’s expansions such as the Star Wars: X-Wing Special Edition which will include the Star Wars: X-Wing Collector’s CD-ROM as well as all the Tour of Duty expansions including Imperial Pursuit and B-Wing in both the 1994 and 1998 versions.
The prices of the re-released games vary – Star Wars: X-Wing Special Edition and Star Wars: Tie Fighter Special Edition cost $9.99; Star Wars: The Old Republic and The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition cost $12.49
but is on sale for $9.99; and Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis and Sam & Max Hit the Road cost $5.99.
