“The Walking Dead” is not all about deaths and blood, it seesms. Zombies can make a wedding feel extra-special too! Chris Hardwick shared the crazy details of his “Walking Dead” wedding, including the special role that zombies will play on his big day.
“Talking Dead” host Chris Hardwick would be tying the knot soon with fiancee Lydia Hearst and both shared the same passion for geek culture, thus, they had come up with a great theme for a wedding — a “The Walking Dead” theme!
In his interview at the “Jimmy Kimmel Live” show, Hardwick revealed that he and his fiance had planned “weird fun stuff” for their wedding, as reported by Comic Book. “First of all, she was like, ‘Listen, I don’t want you to have to worry about the planning. I want you to just show up at the wedding,’ and I’m like, ‘I’m way on board with that’, ‘But I want to do a lot of weird fun stuff,’ and I said, ‘On board with that, too!'”
The first thing that the fun couple had created was a “Walking Dead” invitation which was inspired with the “The Walking Dead” scene where Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) was carrying Beth Greene (Emily Kinney). Hardwick and Hearst was photographed in that same pose from the show’s fifth season.
But the fanatical stuff does not end there, because Hearst later found a theme for their wedding cake and it would be a one half cake and one half “Doctor Who” Tardis. And what better way to complete the “Walking Dead” inspired wedding? Zombies!
He also revealed that the soon-to-be Mrs. Hardwick wanted zombies involved in their wedding. He said that Greg Nicoter who does the effects on the show was happy to get along with their idea of zombies in their wedding. According to Hardwick, Nicotero told him, “I’ll do that for ya as a wedding present!”
“So, we’re gonna have Greg Nicotero zombies serving drinks,” Hardwick told Jimmy Kimmel on the show. Talk about the best wedding ever.
