Chipotle Mexican Grill is giving everyone a reason to smile. The famous restaurant continues to give away free chips and guacamole. Here’s how you can get yours.
Chipotle’s free chips and guac is actually part of a bold statement the restaurant company is making. Chipotle wants its fans to know that it takes food preparation very seriously. As such, it wants to assure diners that it only uses 100 percent real food for all offerings on the menu.
To celebrate this fact, Chipotle has come up with a clever game called “Spot The Imposter.” This is the company’s ingenious way of showing that the restaurant has “nothing to hide.” However, it is making it clear that other food establishments do.
Chipotle proud to say there are no ‘imposters’ in its food
“Other restaurants rely on things like added colors and flavors then try to pretend that they are real,” Chipotle explained in a statement. In the game, Chipotle wants you to look through all the ingredients and spot the “imposter” hiding among them. You may think it’s easy. Considering Chipotle probably included all ingredients found in its kitchens, it might take you some time to find what doesn’t belong in the group.
What you have to keep in mind is that there is a different imposter in the Chipotle ingredient pile every day. On the first day of the promo, Chipotle put a spotlight on Natamycin. It’s a preservative typically used to prolong the shelf life of cheese. Afterwards, it moved on to annatto. Chipotle says this is an additive that makes food appear more orange or yellow.
Recently, Chipotle was happy to announce that it had removed preservatives from a lot of its staples. These include the flour tortilla, crispy corn tortilla, soft corn tortilla and tortilla chips. In the past, Chipotle’s chips consisted of additives like propionic acid and benzoic acid. Today, Chipotle Mexican Grill is proud to say that it is only made with corn masa flour, water, sunflower oil, lime juice and Kosher salt.
Chipotle’s “Spot The Imposter” game will continue until April 7. Go to the company’s website every 9 a.m. to play. When you get the “imposter” right, you’ll get your one-time free chips and guac as well as enter the “Spot The Imposter” sweepstakes.
